class='ekit-heading__description'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <strong>PS1 Bosporus Site<\/strong> encompasses the shelf and slope between Demirk\u00f6y and Kandra districts, along a coastline shared by \u0130stanbul, K\u0131rklareli, and Kocaeli provinces, with a combined <strong>population<\/strong> of approximately <strong>20 million<\/strong>. Spanning an area of about 12,500 km\u00b2, the region is notable for the <strong>Mediterranean<\/strong> bottom water inflow from the <strong>\u0130stanbul Strait<\/strong>, which supplies oxygen to the <strong>Black Sea's<\/strong> anoxic layer.<\/p>\n<p>The area's <strong>mesoscale hydrographical features<\/strong>, bounded by the Rim Current to the north and the coastline to the south, create a retention zone crucial for <strong>small pelagic fish migrating<\/strong> between nursery and overwintering grounds. Unlike most of the southern Black Sea, characterized by a <strong>narrow continental shelf<\/strong>, this region has a shelf extending up to 50 km offshore, providing <strong>vital habitat<\/strong> for demersal fish species.<\/p>\n<p>In PS1, <strong>fisheries<\/strong> and <strong>maritime transport<\/strong> have long been dominant sectors, while <strong>tourism<\/strong> and <strong>offshore energy<\/strong> (wind and wave) hold significant growth
