Organized by the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) in collaboration with the CPMR Balkan and Black Sea Commission (BBSC CPMR) and the Technology Centre of the Sea \u2013 CETMAR Foundation (CETMAR), the event brought together <b>22 participants<\/b>, including<b> five young diplomats<\/b> and<b> five early-career researchers from Black Sea countries<\/b> (Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, T\u00fcrkiye, and Ukraine).<\/p>\n<p>Designed as an interactive training workshop, the Winter School aimed to strengthen the <b>science-policy interface, <\/b>providing participants with the necessary skills for effective communication and collaboration between policy and science to improve the relevance and applicability of research in policy development. <b>Over two days<\/b>, the BRIDGE-BS Winter School included five dynamic sessions featuring expert talks, group exercises, and a foresight simulation game, led by facilitators Ms. Georgia Chantzi (ICBSS) and Ms. Mar\u00eda P\u00e9rez (CETMAR).<br><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><br><b style=\"font-style: italic;\">Key Outputs of the BRIDGE-BS Winter School:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><b>Enhanced Understanding of Science-Policy Synergies<\/b><\/i> \u2013 On the first day, participants were introduced to the BRIDGE-BS project, which promotes science-policy synergies in the Black Sea region. <strong>Prof. Mustafa Y\u00fccel<\/strong>, BRIDGE-BS Co-coordinator, shared insights into the project\u2019s approach to tackling regional sustainability challenges.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Scenario Simulation Game&nbsp;<\/i><\/b>\u2013 Led by <strong>Ms. \u00c9milie Riclet<\/strong> (Strat\u00e9gies Mer et Littoral, SML), an interactive scenario simulation game allowed participants to assess governance and innovation pathways. The game was based on the \u201c2050 Sustainable Blue Economy Imaginaries for the Black Sea\u201d report, which presents four potential future scenarios influenced by governance and innovation.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Practical Application of the Policy Cycle \u2013<\/i><\/b>&nbsp;Key sessions, led by <strong>Ms. Georgia Chantzi<\/strong> (ICBSS), <strong>Mr. Stavros Kalognomos<\/strong> (CPMR BBSC), and <strong>Ms. Mar\u00eda P\u00e9rez<\/strong> (CETMAR), explored the stages of the policy cycle and highlighted opportunities for collaboration between science and policy.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Expert Insights on Stakeholder Engagement<\/i><\/b> \u2013 <strong>Ms. Lydia Papadaki<\/strong> (ATHENA RC, H2020 DOORS Black Sea project) delivered a session on stakeholder engagement methodologies, providing valuable expert perspectives on the outcomes of these efforts.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><i>Development of Communication Skills and Ocean Literacy&nbsp;<\/i><\/span>\u2013 To enhance participants\u2019 ability to communicate scientific knowledge effectively,&nbsp;<span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">Mr. Aleksandre Gogaladze<\/span>&nbsp;(EMSEA) emphasized the importance of ocean literacy for sustainability and introduced the first-ever Black Sea Ocean Literacy Network, developed under BRIDGE-BS.<\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Capacity Building for Early-Career Professionals<\/span><\/i> \u2013 The Winter School provided in-depth training for young diplomats and researchers from Black Sea countries, focusing on science-policy interactions and evidence-based policymaking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The event concluded with a certificate ceremony, led by Mr. Stavros
