As an instrument to empower local communities in terms of <strong>the sustainable management of the Black Sea<\/strong>, breaking sectoral silos, and ensuring a systemic approach, the first round of the Living Labs was a significant step for further actions.<\/p><p>In this context, <strong>on the 26th of January and 1th of February, <\/strong>the first BRIDGE-BS Living Lab was held in two stages in <strong>Constanta and Tulcea, Romania <\/strong>with the collaboration of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rmri.ro\/Home\/Home.html?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NIMRD<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/geoecomar.ro\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GeoEcomar<\/a>. By introducing the Living Lab concept as a priority, a confidential foundation was created where everyone could hear <strong>different perspectives<\/strong>, enabling fruitful discussions on environmental issues in the <strong>Romanian coastal region.<\/strong><\/p><p>Afterward, <strong>on January 27-28<\/strong>, the second Living Lab was organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/io-bas.bg\/en\/home-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IO-BAS<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iber.bas.bg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBER-BAS<\/a> in <strong>Burgas, Bulgaria<\/strong> with two online sessions focusing on Sustainable Blue Economy in the Black Sea were heavily attended by NGOs, fisheries associations, education, tourism, and local governments. <strong>The structure of living labs,<\/strong> terminology in ecosystem services, <strong>Black Sea multi-stressors,<\/strong> innovations, opportunities, challenges, and needs for the development of a sustainable blue economy in the Black Sea region were discussed as the main focuses.<\/p><p>As a way to build an interactive bridge between people from various industries and specializations, the 3rd BRIDGE-BS Living Lab was organized on <strong>January 28 in Batumi, Georgia <\/strong>by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsu.ge\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tbilisi State University<\/a>. Participants from <strong>policy, business, NGOs, and academia<\/strong> identified the blue economy potential as well as the marine ecosystem services offered by <strong>the Georgian Coastal Region.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>On February 16-17,<\/strong> the 4th BRIDGE-BS Living Lab was arranged with the cooperation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.istanbul.edu.tr\/tr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Istanbul University<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mam.tubitak.gov.tr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TUBITAK MAM<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tepav.org.tr\/tr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TEPAV<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tudav.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TUDAV<\/a> in<strong> Istanbul Turkey<\/strong>, with industry representatives of various institutions and organizations. Within this scope,<strong> risks, pressures, and main needs for the Black Sea<\/strong> were identified by prioritizing fundamental marine ecosystem services to develop a sustainable blue economy in the Black Sea. Furthermore, innovative <strong>4.0 industry<\/strong> approaches for a sustainable blue economy and <strong>enhanced ecosystem services<\/strong> in the Black Sea were highlighted.<\/p><p>Before their Living Lab session, <a href=\"https:\/\/sinop.edu.tr\/homepage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinop University<\/a> aimed to have a preliminary preparation with <strong>an initial meeting<\/strong> with selected stakeholders <strong>to communicate BRIDGE-BS<\/strong> and explain ecosystem services and multi-stressors. After this preliminary informative meeting, <a href=\"https:\/\/sinop.edu.tr\/homepage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinop University<\/a> organized their Living Lab\u00a0on <strong>25 May in Sinop<\/strong>, located on the Black Sea coast of Turkey.
