Black Sea waves at UN OC 2022!

Co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the UN Ocean Conference was held between 27 June and 1 July 2022 in Lisbon.
 
With the priority of taking action for the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development, UN OC 2022 provided a solid platform for the delivery of innovative science-based solutions. In this context, a great number of special and side events were organized and a wide-ranging information exchange took place.
 
At the side event ‘‘Planning and Sustainability in Adaptation to Climate Change’’ organized by Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of Republic of Türkiye under the UN Ocean Conference 2022, BRIDGE-BS project coordinator Prof. Baris Salihoglu introduced the project with key sights to a great audience. In his speech, Baris Salihoglu underlined the crucial role of BRIDGE-BS to map, monitor, and model ecosystem services and responses to stressors in order to identify the safe operating space where a sustainable, climate-neutral Blue Economy can develop. Prof. Salihoglu also joined a side-event, organized by BRIDGE-BS partner TUDAV with a specific focus on the theme of focuses on the theme of “Managing, Protecting, Conserving and restoring marine and coastal ecosytems”, as a keynote speaker where he presented BRIDGE-BS in the context of Building a Bridge between Science and Sustainable Action in Marine Sciences.
