The BRIDGE-BS summer expedition has concluded successfully, marking significant milestones in Black Sea research.
This expedition was conducted in collaboration with partners from Ifremer, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, and Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi. Focused on the southwestern Black Sea, BRIDGE-BS researchers collected crucial oceanographic and biogeochemical data to enhance our understanding of the region’s marine ecosystem.
Highlights:
• 20 Stations Covered: Comprehensive data collection across the Southwestern Black Sea
• 100 Miles of Scanfish Lines: Extensive underwater mapping and analysis
• New Sensor Technologies: Enhancing our research capabilities with cutting-edge sensors (WP5-7)
• Intercomparison Exercise: Collaborative efforts with Istanbul University Institute of Marine Sciences and Management (WP1) to ensure data accuracy and reliability
• Youth Engagement: Three young scientists from Black Sea Young Ambassadors and METU Institute of Marine Sciences was trained (WP3-8-9), fostering the next generation of marine researchers
This expedition was a testament to international collaboration, coordination with partners, and the vital role of youth in advancing science and research.
