On 26-27 November 2024, the CommOCEAN 2024 conference took place in Malaga, Spain, hosted by the Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) and organized by our partner the European Marine Board IVZW.

CommOCEAN is an international series of conferences dedicated to marine science communication, fostering dialogue and collaboration within the global marine science community. At the 6th edition of this conference, the BRIDGE-BS Communication Team, Ezgi Sahin and Özgün Evrim Sayılkan, presented the work and experiences on Science Communication aboard the R/V Bilim-2 of Middle East Technical University (METU).

They highlighted the BRIDGE-BS project’s collaborative efforts, which involve experts, PhD students, and Black Sea Young Ambassadors. Their presentation emphasized how these efforts are advancing marine research and engaging the public in the Black Sea region, particularly through engaging mediums like the scientific vlog series.

This successful participation highlights the increasing impact of BRIDGE-BS’s contributions to marine science communication and strengthens our dedication to bridging the gap between science and the public.
